Chapel Tree Services, based in Ross on Wye, Herefordshire was established in 2005 by Matt Long. It became incorporated in 2015 with his wife Jenny joining as Commercial Director.
Matt has over 20 years of tree care experience and is fully qualified with an HND in Forestry, RFS certificate in Arboriculture, plus all the relevant practical qualifications for Utility and Domestic Arboriculture, and specialist First Aid training. His passion for trees developed as he grew up in the Wye Valley (AONB), one of the most tree covered areas of Great Britain. As well as working for various forestry and tree care companies in the UK, he has also spent time working in the commercial production forests of Finland and on the privately owned Baronscourt Estate in Northern Ireland. In America he spent 18 months as a Climbing Aborist with SavaTree in Boston, USA. In 2017 he was selected for deployment to the Caribbean with the Disaster Arborist Response Team using his skills to assist with the aid relief effort after hurricanes devastated the region. He remains passionate about trees and delivering the highest possible tree care to our customers.
Jenny is an experienced Business Manager with a Bsc in Geography, a postgraduate Diploma in Professional Management and an ILM Level 2 award in workplace coaching. After 15 years in the Travel industry and living abroad in France and the USA, she took a break from her career to join the family business and be at home for their young children. She now takes responsibility for all commercial, administrative and HR aspects of the business.
Jenny also volunteered for Dart International, taking a role in 2017/18 as their Media & Communications Manager, where she ran a national media campaign for their Caribbean deployment, culminating in an appearance for the team on BBC's The One Show.
In September 2018 Jenny was appointed as a non-executive Director to the Board of Trustees for the Arboricultural Association, a charity dedicated to the support and promotion of trees and the professionals who care for them. Her aim is to promote the Arboricultural Profession in the UK, ensuring the public are well informed and that rogue traders are replaced by the types of professional organisations who will ensure trees are properly managed and protected. She sits on the Media and Communications Committee for the Arboricultural Association and will be representing them at the RHS Chelsea Flower show in 2019 as a guest speaker, inspiring students on how to maximise their careers by engaging with the public and the media.
She also offers management consultancy services and training for the Arboriculture Industry, helping to develop non-tree related skills to improve staff motivation, performance and customer services. Check out our facebook page for details of courses.
Matt and Jenny run all day to day aspects of the business, surrounded by a team of highly skilled, passionate and fully qualified Arborists. They pride themselves on providing a personal, yet highly professional tree care service.
Our environmental commitment
We recycle 100% of all the green waste produced from our tree operations. Woodchip is used by customers as a weed suppressant for flower beds and any excess is used on a local organic farm. Logs are the other green waste product and these are split and used as firewood or cut to lengths and sold as timber.
