Bird Nesting

Our tree services during this time are completed with the upmost care and consideration for all birds in nesting.

Bird Nesting Season

Bird Nesting in The UK

The bird nesting season in the UK is officially from 1st March to 31st August. All wild birds are protected in the UK by the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981. It is recommended that vegetation works (tree or hedge cutting) or site clearance should be done outside of this nesting season, however in reality the nesting period may start before this and extend beyond it, in some cases. The busiest time for nesting birds is from 1st March until 31st July and of course varies according to species, etc.

At Chapel Tree Services, our team are fully trained to complete vegetation works without causing too much distress to birds that may be nesting in your area. If you are unsure about bird nesting in your garden or outdoor space, please do not hesitate to contact us today.

Caution In Bird Nesting Season

Take Care During Bird Nesting Season

We take our responsibility to protect wildlife very seriously at Chapel Tree Services, always aiming to avoid impact on nesting birds. With this in mind, we minimise work in likely sites for nests during the nesting season. If work must be done during the nesting period, we will ensure that we check any trees, hedges or shrubs for nests and birds present and work around this tree or hedge, returning at a later date when the birds have flown.

It is worth noting that all wild birds are protected under the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 whilst they are actively nesting or roosting. This legal framework casts a broad net of safeguarding, encompassing even species that may be commonly perceived as pests, notably pigeons, magpies, and crows. Despite their classification as potential nuisances, these birds, are entitled to a period of legal protection as they engage in essential activities like nesting and roosting.

The Act's inclusivity reflects a comprehensive approach to wildlife conservation, recognising the intrinsic value of each species within the ecosystem.
